Melinda Sharpe

Wallingford – Melinda E. (Emery) Sharpe, age 74, of Wallingford
passed away peacefully in the care of The Comforting Team at The
Connecticut Hospice in Branford Connecticut overlooking the waters
of Long Island Sound on Wednesday May 6, 2026.
Melinda was born July 3, 1951 in Boise, Idaho daughter of the late Ted
and Doris (Sparkman) Emery. She received her Undergraduate Degree
from the University of Oregon, graduated from Boston College with
her Masters Degree in Social work, retired suddenly after working for
many years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Private Practice
and was well known for helping people in the Recovery Community.
She enjoyed playing tennis, kayaking, hiking and other outdoor
activities and also enjoyed multicultural foods, visual performance
arts and music. She loved spending time at the beach or a lake and
walking her Golden Retriever. Even though ALS defeated her voice,
body and brain, it never diminished her enlightened, highly sensitive
spirit and highly intelligent and intuitive mind. She remained kind,
loving and compassionate until her very last breath.
Melinda is survived by her Life Partner: Daniel Pemberton, her son:
George Sharpe, both of Wallingford, Connecticut, her sister: Chris
Clark and her niece: Amy Clark McNelly, her husband and 4 children,
all of Washington State.
Melinda’s family will receive relatives and friends at Community
Funeral Home, The Corona Family Funeral and Cremation Services,
72 Waterbury Road (Next to the Post Office), Prospect, Connecticut
06712, on Tuesday May 12, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Private burial
and services will be held in Grove Cemetery, 1 Cross St, Naugatuck,
CT 06770, following the visitation.
