Mary Ellen Lance

Prospect – Mary Ellen “Lynn” (Fitzmaurice) Lance, age 83, of
Prospect passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury
on June 5, 2025. She was the wife of the late Robert S. Lance.
Mary Ellen was born April 1, 1942 in New Haven to the late John
“Jack” Fitzmaurice and Marguerite (Dowling) Fitzmaurice. She spent
her childhood growing up in Naugatuck where she met her devoted
husband whom she was married to for almost 65 years before his
passing last year. They built their home in Prospect CT where she
lived for the past 58 years. She was retired from working in Finance
and Banking and was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church in
Prospect. She was a member of the Naugatuck Garden Club, the
Naugatuck and Prospect Senior Centers and enjoyed attending the St.
Michael’s Church Fair in Naugatuck every year as well as Summer
Concerts in Naugatuck and Prospect. Her proudest achievement was
being “Mimi” to her three adoring grandchildren.
Mary Ellen is survived by her son: Eric Lance, daughter in law: Jolie
Lance, grandchildren: Mya, John and Ryan Lance, her sister-in-law:
Joan Levandoski, her niece: Pam Perugini, her nephew: Michael
Andrzywski, and cousin: Joan LaFrance; as well as many dear
friends. She was predeceased by her son: Craig Lance.
Mary Ellen’s family will receive relatives and friends at Community
Funeral Home, The Corona Family Funeral and Cremation Services,
72 Waterbury Road (Next to the Post Office) in Prospect on Tuesday
June 17, 2025 from 5 to 6:30 pm followed by a celebration of life at
6:30pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery in
Naugatuck at the convenience of the family.
