Manuel DaSilva

Cheshire, Connecticut

Manuel DaSilva, born in Mira de Aire, Portugal passed away at the age of 93 peacefully on May 22, 2026. Manuel was surrounded by the love of his family and the many lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey. A hardworking, devoted family man, Manuel lived a life defined by love, laughter, kindness, and dedication to those around him.

As a young man in Portugal, Manuel worked as a skilled tin smith, a trade that reflected the craftsmanship and work ethic he carried throughout his life. His greatest love story began even before adulthood. On the day his beloved wife Maria was born, Manuel held her in his arms and told her parents, “One day I will marry her.” True to his word, he and Maria shared a beautiful marriage that lasted 64 loving years — a bond admired by all who knew them.

In 1964, Manuel courageously came to America in search of a better life for his family. He settled in Naugatuck, where he worked tirelessly at Uniroyal and Eastern Company, earning the respect of coworkers and friends alike through his dedication and warm personality.

Outside of work, Manuel found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved gardening, woodworking, and painting, always creating something with his hands and heart. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren, Deanna and Drew. Manuel was their biggest supporter, proudly attending every sporting event and cheering them on from the sidelines. Over the years, he became the honorary grandfather to many of their teammates and friends, loved deeply by countless children whose lives he brightened with his humor, encouragement, and kindness.

Known for his quick wit and personable nature, Manuel had a gift for connecting with people from all walks of life. He would often make an effort to learn the language of those he worked alongside, simply to make others feel welcome and understood. His kindness, humor, and ability to make everyone feel like family will never be forgotten.

Manuel leaves behind his loving wife, Maria Silva, his son and daughter-in-law, Manuel and Zuzana DaSilva, his daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Danny Laliberte; and his two cherished grandchildren, Deanna and Drew and his sister Kate Musco. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who considered him part of their own.

Manuel DaSilva’s legacy is one of love, hard work, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
