Katherine Gilbert

Prospect – Katherine Ann (Napomecino) Gilbert, age 62, of Prospect, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Waterbury Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Katherine was born July 8, 1963, in Waterbury daughter of Elizabeth (Wager) Napomecino
and the late Michael Napomecino. She was a Registered Nurse who was extremely dedicated to her profession, having worked at St. Mary’s Hospital for 23 years and UCONN Medical Center for 15 years, and maintained her license even throughout her illness. She enjoyed gardening and traveling, loved being an ER nurse, and most of all loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her mother, Elizabeth Napomecino, Katherine is survived by her sons: Michael Gilbert Jr, Brendan Gilbert of Prospect and his girlfriend Abby Lariccia of Naugatuck, and Matthew Gilbert of Prospect, and her sisters: Mary Napomecino of Waterbury and Barbara Kelpin of Waterbury.

Community Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road (Next to the Post Office) in Prospect, is
honored to be assisting Katherine’s family. A celebration of life will be held on November 8th, from 12-2 pm, at the Prospect Fire Department.
