Irena Richardson

–

Waterbury, Connecticut

Waterbury – Irena Antanina (Stuopelis) Richardson, age 76, of Waterbury was called home to the Lord of Divine Mercy and His Blessed Mother on Thursday May 21, 2026 at her home. She leaves behind her soulmate and love of her life, her husband William “Bill” “Forever Your Vilkus” Richardson.

Irena also leaves behind her adopted sister and life-long friend, Grace Platt and several nieces and nephews including Ernest Richardson, Michael Richardson and Todd McCormack. In Lithuania she leaves behind many aunts and cousins. She was predeceased by her Fatherand Mother Pranas and Elena Stuopelis, her sister, Aldona and her infant son, Michael.

Her favorite motto was “I Strive For Imperfection” and she usually succeeded.

Irena felt she didn’t need an obituary because who knew her had quite a few laughs and those that didn’t – “Well Better Luck Next Time”.

All you need to know is she smiled, she cried, she laughed, she lived, she died but the greatest gift – she was loved and she loved with all her being.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception on Wednesday June 3, 2026 at 10 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of Irena’s family. Community Funeral Home 72 Waterbury Road (Next to the Post Office) in Prospect is honored to be assisting Irena’s family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Disabled American Veterans or to a No Kill Animal Shelter.
