Erica Michalowski

–

Prospect, Connecticut

Erica Dawn Rosoff Michalowski of Prospect, Connecticut passed away peacefully with
her devoted husband by her side on July 20, 2026 after a long, courageous battle with
cancer.
Erica is survived by her loving husband, David Michalowski, and many close and distant
relatives and dear friends. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, on July 31, 1967, she is
the daughter of the late Robert Rosoff and the late Ellice Rosenberg Rosoff.
Erica grew up in Wallingford, Connecticut, graduating from Lyman Hall High School and
went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in social work from Central Connecticut State
University. She continued her education receiving her master’s degree at the University
of Connecticut School of Social Work majoring in Community Organizing with a minor in
Policy and Planning receiving a Certificate in Aging.
Dedicating over 40 years to the aging community, first starting as a volunteer at various
agencies throughout Connecticut, she worked her way up to Associate State Director at
AARP winning many awards and helping countless numbers of people along the way.
Throughout her career, she made many professional and personal friends due to her
intelligence, extreme dedication, and her warm welcoming personality. Erica was a
friend and mentor to all!
In addition to her full-time work in the aging field, being recognized as an expert in her
field, Erica taught at the University of Connecticut and Quinnipiac University. She
contributed time to the University of New Haven working with Dr. Henry Lee on the
criminal exploitation of the elderly study.
Her work on numerous key projects, boards, universities, churches, and volunteer
institutions brought her not only professional accolades but deep personal satisfaction.
She was truly committed to serving her community.
Erica was a private person, never wanting to take credit, but always wanting to connect
people to their people. If you asked Erica what she did, she would simply say, “I put
round circles into square holes.”
Beyond her professional life, she had a variety of loves and interests. An animal lover,
avid traveler and a lover of music, reading and writing and her newest hobby,
crocheting. She set out to make afghans which she called love clouds for her family
and friends, those people in her life that meant the most. Mission accomplished. The
love clouds will be enjoyed and serve as a memory of her kindness, love and talent and
will be passed down from generation to generation.
In true Erica fashion, she knew it would take a village to help her through her arduous
battle, and she was blessed to have an army! Deepest thanks, respect and gratitude
go to Dr. Rajani Nardkarni and the many dedicated medical professionals involved in

her care, many of whom at the Midstate Hospital Department of Oncology. She hoped
that by showing her strength, courage and deep resolve, her life would be extended,
and they would learn from her medical successes and failures. Her beautiful life was
extended beyond medical expectations, and they learned so much!
Erica had a life well lived. Her smile, laughter and deep loyalty and commitment will
truly be missed!

Erica's family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday July 25, 2026 from 1 to 3 P.M. at the Community Funeral Home, The Corona Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 72 Waterbury Road, Next to the Post Office, in Prospect.
