Deborah Consiglio

–

Bethany, Connecticut

On September 29, 2025, Deborah “Debbie” Ann Consiglio, 64, of Bethany, CT, passed
away peacefully with her husband of 39 years by her side after a long, valiant battle with
lung cancer. She was born on August 15, 1961, in Essington, Pennsylvania, the
daughter of the late Stanley and Josephine Lucas.
Debbie was a proud Wellsley College alumna, where she graduated in 1983 with a
degree in Molecular Biology and took graduate level courses at the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology. Over the past four decades, Debbie traveled the world creating
an esteemed career in the biotech and pharmaceutical sales industry.
Most recently, Debbie worked for Natera, Inc., a clinical genetic testing company that
specializes in non-invasive, cell-free DNA testing technology, with a focus on women’s
health, cancer, and organ health. She was a valued member of the Oncology Business
Development team, where she made a significant impact through her dedication,
expertise, and deep commitment to advancing Natera’s mission. Throughout Debbie’s
own battle with lung cancer, she helped shape Natera’s Real World Data Insights
Program, sharing her personal experience as she managed her disease and utilized
Signatera, Natera’s custom-designed blood test that detects circulating tumor DNA to
identify molecular residual disease and monitor treatment response in cancer patients.
Natera and Debbie’s colleagues were incredibly supportive during Debbie’s illness, for
which her family is especially grateful.
Debbie was a long-time resident of Bethany and treasured being involved in her kids’
various sporting endeavors. She coached Amity Youth Cheerleading for many years as
well as t-ball, and spent time as the president of the Parent Teacher Association at
Bethany Community School as well as President of the Mt. Snow Ski Club.
Debbie also was instrumental in assisting her husband in running Sally’s Apizza after
the passing of her mother-in-law in 2012 and orchestrating the restaurant’s sale in 2017.
Despite frequently claiming she didn’t really like pizza, she secretly loved waking up in
the middle of the night to a fresh pie Bob would bring home with him.
Debbie had a passion for cooking and baking, famously making hundreds of Christmas
cookies every year, which she shared with friends and family. Debbie never missed an
opportunity to make an elaborate meal, even just for two. She also loved crocheting and
made countless blankets, hats, and sweaters for her growing number of grandchildren
as well as dear friends and colleagues, which will be treasured for many years to come.
She is survived by her husband Robert Consiglio; her daughter, Krista (Thomas) Frith of
Roanoke, Virginia; her son, Nicholas (Cassie Davis) Consiglio of Salt Lake City, Utah;
her step-son, Mathew (Charlotte) Kortbek of Denmark; four grandchildren, Christian and
Emilie Kortbek, and Thomas and Virginia Frith; her Denmark friends Sigrid Kortbek,
Jytte Loeth, and Jens Loeth; and many colleagues and friends.

November is lung cancer awareness month. In Debbie’s honor, her family and her
Natera colleagues encourage you to take part in Lung Cancer Awareness month by
learning more about lung cancer, sharing Debbie’s story, supporting research initiatives,
or simply reaching out to someone in your life who may be at risk. Donations in her
